AllerGen investigators honoured by CSACI

Two AllerGen investigators were honoured at the Awards Dinner of the 2016 Canadian Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (CSACI) Annual Scientific Meeting held September 29 – October 2, 2016, in Montreal, QC.

mazerDr. Bruce Mazer (McGill University) received the CSACI Jerry Dolovich Award for his contributions to the field of allergy and clinical immunology in Canada. The award is named after the late Dr. Jerry Dolovich, a highly respected allergy researcher, clinician, and educator.

Dr. Mazer leads the AllerGen-funded project “Disease Modulation Clinical Tolerance Study,” which is coordinating trials using oral immunotherapy for cow’s milk allergy. He is also Principal Investigator of the CIHR-funded GET-FACTS Network for food allergy clinical tolerance studies, a professor in the Department of Pediatrics at McGill University, and Director of the Division of Allergy & Immunology of Montreal Children’s Hospital.

13-BeckerDr. Allan Becker (The University of Manitoba) received the CSACI Distinguished Member Award for his outstanding achievements in the allergy, asthma and immunology field, and his “accomplishments that serve as an inspiration and example for others to follow.”

Dr. Becker is a co-Research Leader for AllerGen’s Patients, Policy and Public Health Enabling Platform and co-lead for the National Food Allergy Strategy (NFASt) initiative. He is also the Manitoba site leader for the CHILD Study and a professor in the Allergy and Clinical Immunology Section within the Department of Peadiatrics and Child Health at the University of Manitoba.
